Make a queen sized quilt with a very complex look but using the easiest method ever. The gradated colors give a dynamic look to the stars and you can do a block a night for a month and be all finished with the top. Bring in a landscape photo and learn how to make an abstract art quilt from it. Free up your creative juices by playing with small elements like screen prints, fabric cut outs, sun prints, ribbons, fabric strips, buttons, beads, and lace. Arrange everything on a fat quarter-sized background and quilt/apply them all in one operation. This is a great way to make a themed wall hanging. Learn how to make felted wool scarves that incorporate silk fabric for a lightweight and breezy quality, just right for summer. This method of wet felting involves laying wool directly onto a very thin silk gauze scarf, wetting with soap and water, and rolling in bubblewrap in incorporate the two fibers together. Come to play with crayons made from oil paint. There are so many ways to use paintstiks to enhance traditional quilts, clothing, art quilts, and home dec items. They are fast becoming a basic part of the fiber artist’s tool kit because they are so versatile. Come for two hours of fun. Susan Antell teaches you an easy, minimally messy method to dye cotton, rayon, or silk using baggies. You will learn color theory in a tangible, understandable way and have gorgeous fabrics to use in your next project as well. In class 1 you will dye the twelve color rainbow spectrum. In the second class of the series, you will work with the concept of “tints” and gradations and use a complementary pair of colors to create a chroma bridge of the colors between them. Susan Antell 3 hours $27 Tuesday, June 24 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Adding more colors to your palette, you will mix six hues with varying amounts of black to explore the concept of “shades”. The effects of adding bronze as an overdye to add pattern will also be explored. Susan Antell 3 hours $27 Tuesday, July 29 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Rejoice! Soy wax is here so you can forget the hot paraffin and trips to the dry cleaners. Soy wax rinses out with hot water and Synthrapol and is so easy to use. Discharge and Paint Your Quilt! Learn some of the hottest new techniques for taking color out of fabric, sometimes even after the quilt is made! Painting techniques, such as stamping and stenciling, in conjunction with discharge, will also be covered.
